1. Humble Beginnings 1929s 1946 | From Adversity to Determination Born on 25 March 1929 in Pittalavemavaram, on the banks of the River Godavari, Sri Padala Rama Reddi faced hardship from an early age. He lost both his parents while still a child and, in 1941, entered the Pithapuram Maharaja Orphanage at Kakinada along with his younger brother Krishna. These difficult years shaped the resilience, discipline and compassion that would later define his life. Pursuit of Education 1946–1965 | Learning Against All Odds His educational journey was built on extraordinary perseverance. After leaving the orphanage, he continued his studies while living under difficult circumstances, at times surviving on one meal a day. He completed his SSLC in 1947, Intermediate in 1950, pursued graduation at P.R. College, Kakinada, and later graduated in Law from Madras University in 1954.After briefly practicing as a Junior Advocate, he joined the High Court in 1954 and steadily rose to become Chief Librarian. Even when offered a posting as Junior Civil Judge in 1962, his passion for legal writing led him in a different direction. Author & Institution Builder 1959 onwards | Turning Knowledge into Institutions Sri Padala Rama Reddi's passion for legal literature became one of the defining features of his career. In 1959, he authored his first book on Local Laws, beginning a remarkable publishing journey that ultimately resulted in more than 100 books. In 1974, he established the Mother India Printing Press, personally dedicating himself to both publishing and production. His greatest institutional contribution came in 1988, when he established the Padala Rama Reddi Educational Society and founded Padala Rama Reddi Law College. His educational vision expanded further with the establishment of the College of Computer Sciences in 1993 and the College of Commerce and Management in 1995. Legacy of Service 1975 onwards | Giving Back to Society Sri Padala Rama Reddi never forgot his roots. In 1975, he helped bring electricity to his native village. In 1998, he and his brothers donated family land for the Padala Mangamma Memorial Zilla Parishad High School, where he also contributed towards establishing higher secondary education in memory of his mother. In 2003, he was honored by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for his contribution to Telugu literature. In January 2004, he installed a statue of his mother at the village school as an expression of gratitude and remembrance. His enduring legacy lies not only in the books he authored or the institutions he established, but in the generations of students whose lives were shaped by his belief in education, perseverance and service to society.
